Suggested article: What is rDNS?

The rDNS (Reverse DNS) is a service that is a part of your managed DNS plan. It has a great advantage because it allows performing reverse DNS lookups. In addition, with it, you are able to create a Reverse DNS zone, where you can add PTR records. They serve as verification that the IP addresses and the domain name matches.

The rDNS operates with both IPv4 addresses and IPv6 addresses. So you are able to implement it with one or the other or both at the same time.

It will help if you have verification with PTR records and rDNS for your correspondence with other companies and recipients. The other server is going to require checking if the IP address is actually associated with the domain name. That way, it is going to make sure that there is not some kind of scam and the domain can be trusted.

For achieving rDNS, you should have a combination of A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6) records linking domain names and IP addresses and PTR records with the opposite aim, IP addresses to a domain name.
